GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Big plans were put
in place when Menin Development, Inc. purchased Magnolia
Park in 2007, the site of the former Greenville Mall.
But for years, the dirt stood still as
the economy tanked.
Heavy machinery has been brought in, and
phase three of the development and expansion is officially
underway.
In a statement, Marc Yavinsky, Executive
Vice President said, “We have signed leases with
two new tenants and are in advanced discussions with several
other tenants for this phase and future phases at Magnolia
Park. Over the past 6 months, we have had an incredible
amount of interest in Magnolia Park as tenants are coming
back to the market for top quality locations.”
Yavinksy said two new freestanding restaurants
will be built and are expected to open in late 2011.
“Cheddar’s Casual CafÈ Inc.
has over 80 restaurants in 20 states and this will be their
first location in South Carolina," said Yavinsky. "Menin
has also signed a lease with regional restaurant chain
La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant. La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant
is a full service, casual dining Mexican restaurant with
16 locations operating in Georgia and Alabama and this
will be their first location in South Carolina as well."
Yavinsky also confirmed a playground for
families, known as Superplay USA, will call Magnolia Park
home. Superplay USA is known for bowling, mini golf, arcades,
batting cages and laser tag.
Yavinksy also said Menin is currently working
with Greenville City officials to acquire building permits
and negotiating leases with future tenants.
He said future development at Magnolia
Park will consist of an additional 400,000 square feet
of retail, 375,000 square feet of office space and one
or two hotels.
The park is already anchored by Old Navy,
Bed Bath and Beyond, Sports Authority and Hollywood 20
Regal Cinemas.
